Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team at Protocol Education. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the academic and personal success of our students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide individualized support to students with SEND, working closely with teachers and other professionals to create and implement personalized education plans. You will also assist in managing and de-escalating challenging behaviors, while maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with SEND in their learning and development, adapting to their individual needs and abilities.
  • Collaborate with teachers to create and implement individualized education plans, ensuring students receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Provide one-to-one support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, promoting their emotional well-being and resilience.
  • Manage and de-escalate situations involving challenging behavior, using positive behavior management techniques and strategies.
  • Work closely with the SENCO and other professionals to ensure effective support for students, sharing knowledge and expertise to drive student outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
  • Bachelor of Arts Honours degree (BA Hons)
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
  • Additional training or qualifications in supporting students with SEND, SEMH, and ASD.
  • Experience working in a similar role within an educational setting, with a proven track record of supporting students with SEND.
Working Conditions:

The role may involve working in a classroom environment, supporting students with diverse needs and behaviors. Flexibility in working hours and the ability to adapt to changing situations are essential. The candidate will need to have two professional references and an enhanced DBS (we can help obtain this at a cost if needed).
