Category Manager for Retail Excellence

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Retail Buyer/Category Manager to join our team at DFDS. As a key member of our retail team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing category strategies to drive profitable sales and optimize stock efficiency across our global retail business.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze passenger shopper trends, market trends, and consumer insights to tailor the retail assortment to meet passenger needs.
- Develop and manage planograms to ensure category vision is reflected on-shelf.
- Manage the full product lifecycle, including assortment management and clearance, to optimize profitability.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with category suppliers and collaborate with DFDS Group Procurement to enhance commercial terms, income, and promotional support.
- Work with suppliers to develop the retail assortment in specific categories, curated for local customer needs.
- Optimize sales per liner meter to ensure optimal in-store space allocation for brands/categories.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Category Managers, marketing, and operational colleagues, to develop execution plans for category strategies.
- Visit key vessels and port shops to resolve challenges and accelerate the delivery of new opportunities and initiatives.
- Develop and agree activation plans for key initiatives, including merchandising and promotion recommendations.
- Capitalise on opportunities to enhance margins and reduce costs.
- Deliver budgeted financial KPIs, including sales, profit, margin, and supplier income.
We are looking for a dynamic and driven individual with 3+ years of experience in Head Office Retail Category Management or Buying, ideally with expertise in Gifting, Toys, Technology, and Souvenirs. If you've worked in the Travel Retail sector and have a knack for delivering significant bottom-line impact, we want to hear from you. A degree in sales, marketing, or business is a strong plus. You'll thrive in this role if you're a master collaborator, skilled negotiator, and Excel whiz. Your sharp analytical mind, combined with excellent English communication skills, will help you engage with stakeholders across all levels. We're seeking someone who excels under pressure, managing multiple projects with ease, and can adapt swiftly to change.
