Retail Buyer/Category Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Retail Buyer/Category Manager to join our team at DFDS. As a key member of our retail team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing category strategies across our global retail business to maximize profitable sales and drive efficiencies in stock.
Key Responsibilities:
- Category Analysis and Strategy: Analyze passenger shopper trends, market trends, and consumer insights to tailor the retail assortment to meet passenger needs.
- Planogram Management: Ensure category vision is reflected on-shelf through effective planogram management.
- Product Lifecycle Management: Manage the full product lifecycle, including assortment management and clearance, to optimize profitability.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Own the supplier relationship with all category suppliers and collaborate with DFDS Group Procurement to enhance commercial terms, income, and promotional support.
- Assortment Development: Work with suppliers and utilize supplier insights to develop the retail assortment in specific categories curated for local customer needs.
- Sales Optimization: Optimize sales per liner meter to ensure optimal in-store space allocation for brands/categories.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work cross-functionally and collaboratively with other Category Managers, marketing, and operational colleagues to develop execution plans for category strategies.
- Travel and Visits: Make frequent visits to key vessels and port shops to resolve challenges and accelerate the delivery of new opportunities and initiatives.
- Activation Planning: Develop and agree activation plans for key initiatives, including merchandising and promotion recommendations.
- Financial Performance: Deliver budgeted financial KPIs, including sales, profit, margin, and supplier income.
About You
We are looking for a dynamic and driven individual with 3+ years of experience in Head Office Retail Category Management or Buying, ideally with expertise in Gifting, Toys, Technology, and Souvenirs. If you've worked in the Travel Retail sector and have a knack for delivering significant bottom-line impact, we want to hear from you. A degree in sales, marketing, or business is a strong plus. You'll thrive in this role if you're a master collaborator, skilled negotiator, and Excel whiz. Your sharp analytical mind, combined with excellent English communication skills, will help you engage with stakeholders across all levels. We're seeking someone who excels under pressure, managing multiple projects with ease, and can adapt swiftly to change.
