Buyer/Category Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Retail Category Manager to join our team at DFDS UK & Ireland. As a key member of our retail team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing category strategies to drive profitable sales and optimize stock levels.
Key Responsibilities- Analyzing passenger shopper trends, market trends, and consumer insights to inform category assortment decisions.
- Developing and implementing planograms to ensure category vision is reflected on-shelf.
- Managing the full product lifecycle, including assortment management and clearance, to optimize profitability.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with category suppliers to enhance commercial terms, income, and promotional support.
- Collaborating with suppliers to develop curated retail assortments for local customer needs.
- Optimizing sales per liner meter to ensure optimal in-store space allocation for brands/categories.
- Working cross-functionally with other Category Managers, marketing, and operational colleagues to develop execution plans for category strategies.
- Frequent visits to key vessels and port shops to resolve challenges and accelerate the delivery of new opportunities and initiatives.
- Developing and agreeing activation plans for key initiatives, including merchandising and promotion recommendations.
- Captitalizing on opportunities to enhance margins and reduce costs.
- Delivering budgeted financial KPIs, including sales, profit, margin, and supplier income.
We are looking for a dynamic and driven individual with 3+ years of experience in Head Office Retail Category Management or Buying, ideally with expertise in Gifting, Toys, Technology, and Souvenirs. If you've worked in the Travel Retail sector and have a knack for delivering significant bottom-line impact, we want to hear from you. A degree in sales, marketing, or business is a strong plus. You'll thrive in this role if you're a master collaborator, skilled negotiator, and Excel whiz. Your sharp analytical mind, combined with excellent English communication skills, will help you engage with stakeholders across all levels. We're seeking someone who excels under pressure, managing multiple projects with ease, and can adapt swiftly to change.
