About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Technician to join our engineering team at First Bus. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the mechanical engineering operation, ensuring the highest standards of bus maintenance and repair.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the mechanical engineering operation, overseeing bus servicing, breakdowns, and inspections.
  • Diagnose faults, specify repair methods, and estimate repair times.
  • Stay up-to-date with new engineering and health and safety legislation.
  • Manage individual bus history, identifying reoccurring defects.
  • Familiarize yourself with modern repair techniques and diagnostic equipment.
  • Input and extract relevant data from computerized engineering systems.
Requirements
  • Minimum Level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent.
  • Ability to multi-skill within an engineering environment.
  • Flexible approach to working hours.
  • Desirable: PCV license, ability to obtain, and experience with buses and coaches.
  • Experience with overhaul and repair of bus vehicle systems, engines, gearboxes, and hydraulic systems.
