About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Technician to join our engineering team at First Bus. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the mechanical engineering operation, ensuring the highest standards of bus maintenance and repair.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical engineering operation, overseeing bus servicing, breakdowns, and inspections.
  • Diagnose faults, specify repair methods, and estimate repair times.
  • Stay up-to-date with new engineering and health and safety legislation.
  • Manage individual bus histories, identifying reoccurring defects.
  • Familiarize yourself with modern repair techniques and diagnostic equipment.
  • Work with computerized engineering systems, inputting and extracting relevant data.

About You

We are looking for a skilled and experienced mechanic with a minimum Level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent. You should have the ability to multi-skill within an engineering environment, be flexible with working hours, and have a valid PCV license or be willing to obtain one. Experience working with buses and coaches, HGV vehicles, and hydraulic systems is essential.
