About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Technician to join our engineering team at First Bus. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the mechanical engineering operation, ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of our bus fleet.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical engineering operation, overseeing bus servicing, breakdowns, and inspections.
- Diagnose faults, specify the correct method of repair, and estimate the time required for repairs.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies.
- Stay up-to-date with individual bus history, identifying recurring defects and taking corrective action.
- Develop and implement effective maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and optimize fleet performance.
Requirements
- Minimum Level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent (e.g., City & Guilds Level 1&2).
- Proven experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of bus and coach maintenance.
- Ability to multi-skill within an engineering environment and work flexibly to meet operational requirements.
- Desirable: PCV license, with the ability to obtain one if not already held.
