About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Pharmacy Manager to join our team at Nuffield Health. As a Pharmacy Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective management of medications across our hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Advice: Provide leadership and advice on medicines management to ensure that processes across all clinical departments are safe, cost-effective, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Team Management: Lead, motivate, and effectively manage the pharmacy team to ensure excellent leadership and high-quality patient care.
  • Antimicrobial Stewardship: Optimize the management of antimicrobials to minimize the occurrence of hospital-acquired infections by ensuring pharmacy adherence to up-to-date policies, guidelines, and systems of work.
  • Medication Reconciliation: Ensure the pharmacy team undertakes daily ward rounds to reconcile medication for new inpatients, counsel patients, manage PODs, and check for relevant allergies, adverse drug reactions, and contraindications to treatment.
  • Discharge Planning: Assist and lead the team in facilitating timely and informed discharge of patients returning to primary care by dispensing, accuracy checking, and clinically checking TTOs, counseling patients prior to discharge.
  • Medication Safety: Lead on the implementation of medication safety alerts and drug recalls for the hospital, working closely with the Director of Clinical Services.
  • Controlled Drugs: Implement and monitor Department of Health guidance on all aspects of controlled drugs use in the hospital and ensure the CD audit is completed quarterly.
  • Error Management: Ensure errors, complaints, and incidents are managed in line with Nuffield Health guidelines, specifically reporting these using the RADAR system and reviewing/investigating relevant RADAR reports relating to medicines.
  • Training and Development: Support the development of other healthcare professionals and deliver medicines-focused training upon request.
Requirements
  • Registration: Be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Experience: Have experience of working in a clinical setting as a Pharmacist and leadership/managerial experience in a Pharmacy setting.
  • Awareness and Knowledge: Have an awareness and knowledge of Oncology Pharmacy.
  • Skills: Share evidence-based practices with colleagues to enhance service and standards, make decisions, and use your initiative, possess strong communication skills, and have a passion to deliver excellent care in a rewarding and challenging environment.
