Job Title: Key Worker

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Key Worker to join our team at Essex County Council. As a Key Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting young carers and their families in the West District, Essex quadrant team.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing individualized support to young carers, aged 0-18, young adult carers (16-24), and their families. You will work closely with the team to identify priorities, support needs, interventions, and goals, developing and implementing strategies to secure these.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with young carers and their families to understand their needs and develop support plans.
  • Provide one-to-one support, peer group support, telephone support, advocacy, provision of information, signposting, training opportunities, and workshops.
  • Promote young carers' self-awareness, confidence, and involvement in the design of their young carers service.
  • Collaborate with other agencies, including educational settings and adult services, to ensure ongoing support to young carers.
  • Support the development and facilitation of young carers networks and forums.
  • Ensure the implementation of Essex County Council policies, procedures, and practice for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Requirements:
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent with a relevant professional qualification.
  • Experience of working with children and/or young people.
  • Ability to take responsibility for lone working and managing calendar/working hours.
  • Flexible professional approach to meet the needs of young people and service.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in effective collaborative working with other agencies.
