Job Description

Middlesbrough Council is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Substance Use Support Specialist to join our team on a fixed term basis. This exciting opportunity will allow the successful candidate to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals struggling with substance use issues.

About the RoleThe successful candidate will work in a dynamic and supportive environment, managing a caseload of clients with complex needs and delivering evidence-based interventions to support their recovery. Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Substance Use Support Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing a caseload of clients with substance use issues, providing one-to-one support and guidance to help them achieve their recovery goals.
  • Delivering a range of psychosocial interventions, including motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapy.
  • Working collaboratively with other professionals, including GP's, social workers, and housing officers, to ensure comprehensive support for our clients.
  • Conducting regular reviews and assessments to monitor client progress and make adjustments to their support plans as needed.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with local services and organizations to ensure a seamless transition for our clients.

RequirementsWe are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual with a passion for supporting individuals with substance use issues. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues alike.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, including those with substance use issues.
  • Knowledge of substance use services and interventions, including motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and communication.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to changing needs.
