About the Role

As a Principal Engineer - Fluid Systems at BAE Systems, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing the Mechanical Platform Systems that deliver essential ship services and crew life support capabilities for next-generation Nuclear Submarines. You will be heavily involved with the SSN AUKUS programme and other future submarine projects, supporting the design and development of critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  1. To lead and develop functional engineering solutions that meet complex cross-functional interactions and requirements.
  2. Engage and build relationships with suppliers to develop equipment and component specifications meeting challenging product demands.
  3. Collaborate with customers to develop requirements and acceptance criteria based on operational scenarios, use cases, and design considerations.
  4. Perform and review engineering calculations and analysis to inform design decisions and demonstrate system performance.
  5. Develop design evidence packages to justify safe and effective designs and generate customer confidence.
  6. Coordinate and manage stakeholders to solve complex engineering problems and make responsible decisions.

Your Background

  1. Educated to Degree level in Engineering, Mechanical or Science subjects.
  2. Chartered Engineer within a recognised engineering institute.
  3. Background in Fluid Systems Design.
  4. Design documentation and presentation skills.
  5. Complex engineering calculation expertise.
