Forensic Healthcare Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Police Custody Nurse/Paramedic. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to individuals in police custody suites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting clinical assessments to identify if patients are fit to be detained in custody.
- Providing continued care, including the management of long-term conditions, minor illnesses, and injuries, as well as emergency treatment.
- Mental health and substance misuse assessments and management.
- Forensic sampling, including road traffic offense bloods.
- Providing substance misuse therapies while in custody.
- Referrals and signposting to support wider vulnerabilities.
- Maintaining accurate records to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of detained persons held in police custody.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a background and professional registration as a nurse or paramedic. A minimum of 3-4 years of experience post-registration is recommended. You will also need to have extensive experience of working in a relevant specialty, such as General Practice, A&E, walk-in centers, substance misuse services, prison healthcare, or mental health liaison services in an A&E.
