About the Role

The UCL Eastman Dental Institute is seeking a highly skilled and experienced academic leader to join our team as a Professor (Chair)/Associate Professor of Otology & Auditory Implantation. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing our research strategy in complex otology, ensuring that it remains internationally competitive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a research programme in complex otology, focusing on basic, translational, and clinical aspects.
  • Build and maintain strong collaborations with basic scientists and clinical teaching staff at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute and other relevant departments.
  • Secure external funding for research and drive the development of multi-disciplinary collaborative bids.
  • Establish a strong reputation as a leader in the field through high-impact publications and membership of esteemed professional bodies.

Teaching and Education

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing outstanding clinical training and education to students and junior colleagues, contributing to the development of new courses in areas of clinical or research specialty.

Leadership and Strategic Development

The Professor (Chair)/Associate Professor of Otology & Auditory Implantation will have a strong track record in senior academic leadership and strategic planning. They will be expected to develop a clear academic strategy, not only in relation to their personal research but also across the UCL Eastman Dental Institute and beyond.

Clinical Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, contributing to the development of innovative service models, and integrating with the existing clinical team in the Otology and Auditory Implants department.

Requirements

  • PhD in a relevant field and a strong track record of research and academic leadership.
  • Experience in complex otology and auditory implantation, with a strong reputation in the field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to secure external funding for research and drive the development of multi-disciplinary collaborative bids.
