Job Purpose:

The Lead Refrigeration Engineer is a key role within the refrigeration team, responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance services across multiple site locations. This position also involves team leadership, coaching, and technical support for a small team of refrigeration engineers.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules within agreed timescales and ensure accurate completion of necessary paperwork.
  2. Respond promptly to service call requests and assess job requirements, carrying out repairs as necessary.
  3. Ensure clients are kept informed of task completion status prior to leaving site.
  4. Prioritize maintenance and repair work to achieve agreed timescales and response times.
  5. Order spares in accordance with company procedures.
  6. Identify non-repairable faults and advise the line manager of findings, with recommendations for suitable replacements.
  7. Ensure compliance documentation is always up to date.
  8. Carry out surveys and complete reports as required.
  9. Provide technical support and on-job coaching for refrigeration engineers.
  10. Support the Operations Manager in recruitment and training activities.
Financial and People Responsibilities:

This role has limited financial responsibility, focusing on efficient task completion within pre-defined budgets. Team leadership responsibility includes coaching, technical support, and coordination of activities for a small team of refrigeration engineers.

Requirements:
  1. NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds 2078/2079 are essential.
  2. NVQ Level 3, CO2, and CARE qualifications are preferred.
  3. Previous team leadership/supervisor experience is advantageous.
  4. Previous experience delivering planned and reactive refrigeration services in a multi-site retail environment is essential.
  5. Strong track record of working efficiently individually and as part of a team.
  6. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  7. Basic PC literacy, with experience of a CAFM system to manage task completion.
  8. Full driving license is essential.
