Job Title: Childcare Solicitor

Forbes Solicitors is seeking an experienced Childcare Solicitor to join our Public Family Team at our Preston City Centre office. This is a full-time role working 36.25 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9am until 5pm.

We are looking for a solicitor with a strong background in childcare law, who can provide expert advice and representation to clients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of handling complex childcare cases, including care proceedings, and will be able to work effectively as part of a team to deliver excellent results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handling a caseload of childcare cases, including care proceedings, and providing expert advice and representation to clients;
  • Working closely with other members of the Public Family Team to deliver excellent results and achieve business objectives;
  • Providing written and verbal legal advice to clients and other stakeholders;
  • Communicating effectively with clients, opponents, courts, and tribunals to progress files;
  • Managing and supervising Paralegals to facilitate the achievement of business objectives and professional development goals;
  • Ensuring compliance with internal and external business requirements, including ISO:9001 quality control, SRA Principles/Code of Conduct, and Court & Tribunal deadlines;
  • Monitoring and reporting on financial and business performance to deliver work in a profitable manner;
  • Contributing to the development of the departmental business plan and contributing to business development initiatives;
  • Building positive relationships with current and prospective clients to drive business growth;
  • Contributing to the development of the departmental strategy and business objectives.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor/Legal Executive (or equivalent) with at least 2 years PQE;
  • Previous experience of working with childcare matters and court proceedings is essential;
  • Previous experience within a childcare family department is essential;
  • Accredited Children Panel Member is desirable;
  • Proven competence in IT skills, including Outlook, Word, case management, and other systems experience;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and provide excellent client care skills;
  • Proven experience of handling own caseload, working to and managing deadlines, and generating fees in accordance with agreed targets;
  • Good writing and drafting skills, with excellent communication and technical ability;
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills;
  • Interest in long-term development and progression in the department;
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle as travel will be required throughout the North West region.
