Job Summary

\

We are seeking a skilled Financial Services Manager to join our team at South and Vale District Council. The successful candidate will provide financial expertise and support to various council departments, working closely with the Principal Accountant and Strategic Finance Manager.

About the Role

  • Provide financial business partnering services to selected council departments, assisting with management accounts and year-end financial accounting as needed.\
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, fixed asset accounting, and development of Unit4 to support financial and management accounting.\
  • Support capital projects within assigned services, attend service area team meetings, and provide finance updates as required.\
  • Represent the Finance Department at committee meetings and train non-financial employees in financial procedures.\
  • Prepare specific statutory government returns, including CIPFA Treasury Management statistics and Capital Outturn Reports.\
  • Cover for other accountancy team members as needed.\

Requirements

  • \
  • A strong all-around accounting knowledge, confident with ERP finance systems, and proficient in Microsoft Excel.\
  • Education to A-Level or equivalent, AAT Qualified (Grade 7) or working towards the later stages of the qualification (Grade 6).\
  • Potential expectation to study for a professional qualification, such as CIPFA.\
  • Previous experience in a district council setting is beneficial but not essential.\
  • Knowledge of UNIT4/Agresso software is an advantage.\
  • Familiarity with local government financial regulations and procedures.\
