Principal Building Control Surveyor

Preston, Lancashire, United Kingdom Sweco UK Full time

About Us

At Sweco UK, we're a leading Building Control consultancy in England and Wales, providing market-leading expertise as a Corporate Approved Inspector since 1998. We pride ourselves on our quality and technical expertise that underpins our full suite of Building Control services. Our approach is to listen and engage with our clients to anticipate the regulatory issues that will need resolving and work in partnership to deliver a successful project.

Job Summary

We're currently seeking a motivated Principal Building Control Surveyor to join our highly successful team. The role is based in our office but we operate a hybrid model which for us means typically 3 days in the office or on site and 2 days at home (depending on the need for site visits/clients meetings).

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake plan checks submitted for Building Regulation approval.
  • Undertake site visits, preparing site visit reports, witnessing tests (therefore a full, valid driving licence is essential).
  • Attend client and design team meetings to give professional advice regarding building control work.
  • Be familiar with and use the management systems, including complying with the Quality Management system.
  • Operate in accordance with the commercial requirements of the projects (costs and programme).

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll have a MRICS, MCABE or MCIOB qualification (or be working towards) and have experience in a similar role. You'll need to be able to register as a Class 2 General Building Inspector.

What We Offer

Working for Sweco UK, you'll experience an inclusive, friendly and flexible working environment where colleagues are encouraged to grow and develop together. A meaningful career where you'll help to transform society by being a trusted consultant to our clients.

We're committed to enabling all our colleagues to achieve a great balance between work and their other priorities, such as caring responsibilities, leisure activities, further learning or other interests. We offer flexible and hybrid working, to ensure we have a healthy work/life balance, and ask our employees to have an office or site presence on an average of three days a week.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

We strive to have a friendly and inclusive culture which respects the contribution individuals can bring to Sweco. We aim to promote equality, inclusivity and diversity for everyone. We positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, pregnancy or maternity/paternity.
