About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic volunteer to join our team as a Repair Technician at our Repair Cafe in The Hub. As a Repair Technician, you will play a vital role in reducing waste and promoting sustainability by repairing items brought to the cafe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide repair services at our Repair Cafe in The Hub
  • Work with a variety of items, including general household items, electrical appliances, bicycles, furniture, and textiles
  • Use your problem-solving skills to repair items and suggest alternative sustainable solutions when necessary
  • Work in a customer-facing role, providing excellent service to visitors
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve our sustainability goals

Requirements:

  • Experience in repair and maintenance, particularly in one or more of the following areas: general household items, electrical appliances, bicycles, furniture, and textiles
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Patience and understanding when working with a diverse range of people
  • Ability to commit to a regular volunteer schedule, ideally 4 hours per month
