Your role will involve seeking out fresh angles on the biggest stories, liaising with our team of correspondents to shape the reporting, and commissioning graphics to accompany the final article.

You will be a central and creative figure on the foreign desk, with the opportunity to take charge of the editing of the Telegraph\u2019s world news coverage on Saturdays. Curiosity, efficiency, and self-motivation are key qualities for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

* Generating ideas, commissioning, editing, and publishing for The Telegraph both online and in print, working across a Tuesday to Saturday rota.
* Driving through dispatches and longer-term investigations that can be published outside the strict demands of daily news.
* Planning for major events to assist with commissioning.
* Editing the foreign section on Saturdays for the Sunday paper.
* Liaising with approximately 30 foreign correspondents and acting as a point of contact during breaking news events.
* Working with desk editors from multiple departments (video, graphics, pictures) on breaking news and upcoming long-term events.
* Engaging with a community of readers interested in international news via Twitter, Facebook, and other platforms.
* Opportunity to build up your own areas of specialism and develop projects.

Key Skills:

* Proven track record of news editing in a national or international newsroom.
* Strong news sense, with the ability to seek out exclusives and breaking stories.
* Experience of planning coverage of future news events and preparing diary items of news.
* Strong ability to write and edit articles clearly, concisely, and to house style.
* Be familiar with and have experience of digital storytelling techniques.
* Proficiency in a second language is desirable.
