About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safeguarding Children and Young People Nurse to join our team at Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a Named Nurse for Safeguarding and Children in Care, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Safeguarding Children and Young People team, ensuring that all staff have the necessary training and support to provide high-quality care.
  • Develop and implement effective safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring that they are aligned with national guidance and local safeguarding arrangements.
  • Provide expert advice and support to staff on safeguarding matters, including child protection and child in need cases.
  • Work closely with other agencies and partners to ensure that the needs of children and young people are met, and that safeguarding practices are effective.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Safeguarding Children Strategy, ensuring that it is aligned with national and local priorities.
  • Lead on the implementation of child in need procedures, ensuring that all staff are aware of and compliant with them.
  • Manage a bespoke CIC nursing team, who take full responsibility for the health of school-age children in care.
  • Manage the Safeguarding children team and the Lead Specialist Nurse for CIC.
Requirements
  • Post-registration experience working with children and families in a community setting.
  • Experience of working within the safeguarding setting.
  • Registered Nurse with the NMC.
  • Post-registration qualification in Safeguarding Children, or willingness to work towards it.
  • Evidence of post-basic continuing professional development in Safeguarding.
  • Experience of assessing and reporting on the health needs of Looked After Children.
  • Specialist Practice Qualification, Health Visitor, School Nurse or Public Health Nurse.
  • Safeguarding supervisor trained/experience.
