As the Head of Strategic Planning, you will play a crucial role in leading the planning process, ensuring alignment with North Central London Integrated Care System and NHS England guidance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the annual planning process, ensuring the production of the trust's annual plan and management through the Trust governance process.

• Manage relationships with Finance and People teams, as well as other Corporate Departments, to develop specific annual planning requirements.

• Work with Health Units to develop individual Health Unit plans and the overarching organisational plan.

• Provide market intelligence and analysis function at corporate and service line levels, including developing the Model Hospital to support planning requirements.

• Undertake corporate objective setting in the context of the board's strategy and governing objectives.

• Work with the Communications Department to express the board's plans for internal and external communications.

• Lead on service line planning for clinical services, ensuring excellent coordination with related service and development programmes.

• Contribute to external relationships, representing the trust at external meetings and identifying the need for and managing external advisers.

• Set and control the budget for the planning department and be responsible for financial performance against targets.

Person Specification

• Educated to postgraduate degree level (or equivalent experience)

• Evidence of continuing professional development

• Experience of working with external advisers

• Demonstrably numerate, including a working appreciation of statistics

• Demonstrably familiar with, and able to interpret, financial information

• Top quality written work in terms of clarity, accuracy, and tone

• Ability to establish effective relationships with senior doctors, academics, accountants, workforce, and information specialists

• Ability to brief top executives concisely and accurately

• Detailed understanding of NHS and key policy issues
