As part of our efforts to promote work-life balance, NHS Lothian is reducing the full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours, effective from 1 April 2024, without any change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part-time staff. This change will be reflected in the job description and any subsequent employment contract.

However, due to the phased implementation of the new working hours, some staff may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which they will be paid. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the relevant department.

This role requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership or record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group, they will need to apply to Disclosure Scotland and obtain a satisfactory result before commencing in the role.

We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our Physiotherapy Team in the RIE. The successful candidates will work alongside Physiotherapists within the Cardiothoracic Surgery or Medicine of the Elderly Physiotherapy Teams.

Candidates should demonstrate evidence of experience in teaching prescribed exercise programs, gait re-education, general rehabilitation skills, and administrative tasks. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience working in an acute hospital setting is highly desirable, as is previous experience as a physiotherapy assistant or within the physiotherapy profession. The successful candidate will also be expected to work on the physiotherapy weekend rota (1:8).
