We are seeking a dedicated Support Specialist to join our team at GSL Education. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in schools across Southampton.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will assist teachers and SENCOs in developing tailored support strategies for students with SEN. This will involve adapting educational resources and classroom activities to meet the diverse needs of each student.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to develop individualized support plans for students with SEN.
  • Provide direct support to students during lessons, assisting with various tasks and activities as needed.
  • Work closely with parents and external professionals to ensure a comprehensive support system is in place for each student.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, promoting their engagement and motivation in the learning process.

Requirements

  • CACHE Level 2 or 3 or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or Childcare is highly desirable.
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a Support Specialist or similar role in a classroom or school setting is preferred.
  • Patience, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to supporting students' growth.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
