About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Advanced Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy Medicines Effectiveness (PME) team as a Medicines Effectiveness Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity for a clinical pharmacist to provide maternity cover for our 8a Advanced Pharmacist (Medicines Effectiveness) and contribute to the development of our medicines formulary and commissioning processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with pharmacy, clinical, finance, and commissioning colleagues to introduce safe, clinically-effective, and cost-efficient medicines to our formulary and integrate them into our prescribing practice.
  • Lead the PME team in the absence of the Lead Pharmacist (Clinical Commissioning & Medicines Value) and advance clinical skills through regular commitment to our clinical pharmacy service.
  • Work collaboratively with pharmacy and clinical colleagues to introduce high-cost drugs to our formulary and the Trust, in line with commissioning policies and contractual agreements.
  • Act as an advanced clinical pharmacist, delivering clinical pharmacy services to an agreed ward or patient group, with opportunities for independent prescribing.
  • Line manage a junior clinical pharmacist and contribute to the development of our clinical pharmacy service.
Person Specification

We are looking for a highly experienced and qualified pharmacist with a strong background in clinical pharmacy and commissioning. The ideal candidate will have:

  • MPharm degree or equivalent
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and clinical knowledge skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload, delegate appropriately, and manage time effectively
  • Experience of working across departmental and organisational boundaries to deliver specific targets and improve services for patients
