Advanced Pharmacist Neurology Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Pharmacist to join our team in Neurology. The successful candidate will have a strong background in clinical pharmacy practice and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.
Main Responsibilities- Act as an Advanced Pharmacy Practitioner for Neurology, providing clinical leadership and expertise to the team.
- Develop and implement clinical pharmacy services to improve patient outcomes and safety.
- Collaborate with the Neurology team to establish the role of a prescribing pharmacist in out-patient clinics and support medicines optimisation across Neurology services.
- Provide specialist clinical pharmacy services to patients in Neurology wards and out-patient areas, ensuring adherence to clinical pharmacy standards and objectives.
- Conduct clinical checking of prescriptions and refer unusual doses, potential drug interactions, or incompatibilities to the prescriber for confirmation or revision.
- Assist in clinical decision-making to ensure patient safety and medication effectiveness through the medicines optimisation agenda.
- Discuss medication-related issues with patients and liaise with other healthcare professionals in Primary and Secondary Care as necessary.
- Review results of external audits related to patient care and develop action plans as required.
- Fulfill the role of Responsible Pharmacist in the dispensary when required, as part of the rota or out-of-hours, as defined in the relevant Trust guidance document.

Person SpecificationQualifications
- MPharm Degree or equivalent / General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) registration
- Postgraduate diploma (Diploma or MSc) in clinical pharmacy, community pharmacy, or similar
- Keeping professionally up-to-date, including CPD
- Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification
Desirable
- Management experience
- Experience working in out-patient clinics
- Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)
Experience
- Highly experienced as a qualified pharmacist
- Experience working across departmental and organisational boundaries
- Knowledge of financial systems and structures
- Experience in Neurology
Skills
- Good communication, verbal and written (e.g. SOPs)
- Presentation skills - teaching and report writing
- Use of financial systems to generate reports
- Good clinical knowledge backed up by extensive ward-based experience
- Able to prioritise workload and delegate and manage time effectively
