About the Role

As a highly skilled Finance Business Partner, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive financial expertise to our service lines. Your primary objective will be to promote innovation and improvement by providing insightful analysis and expert advice to inform sound financial decision-making and optimal resource utilization.

The University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is one of the largest acute healthcare providers in the country, delivering exceptional care to over 450,000 people in Plymouth, North and East Cornwall, and South and West Devon. Our services encompass emergency and acute assessment units, general medical and surgical services, cancer care, orthopaedics, paediatrics, dentistry, ear nose and throat, neurosciences, and renal services.

In this exciting opportunity, you will work closely with finance and operations teams to influence day-to-day decisions and contribute to strategic and business planning initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic and business planning advice to Service Line and Care Group Management teams;
  • Encouraging cost-effective decision-making by management using persuasion, motivation, and negotiation skills;
  • Investigating complex financial queries on income and expenditure, conducting regular analytical reviews of the Service Line financial position, predicting income, and developing transformational savings plans;
  • Interpreting complex financial data to advise on financial risks and ensure budgets are achievable and owned by Service Line Managers and Budget Holders;
  • Assisting Service Line Management Teams in executing plans to achieve performance targets within allocated financial resources;
  • Overseeing the accuracy and integrity of Service Line financial information, particularly for service line reporting and reference costs;
  • Identifying business opportunities and threats through market analyses and collaborating with service lines to determine financial impacts and mitigating actions;
