Job Title: Learning Disability Liaison Nurse Band 5

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate registered nurse to join our team as a Learning Disability Liaison Nurse Band 5. This role is part of the Health Facilitation Service, which is part of the Learning Disability Service in Bedfordshire and Luton, East London NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse who is passionate about working with people who have a learning disability and supporting them to access health services when they need to. As a Learning Disability Liaison Nurse, you will work alongside a Lead Liaison Learning Disability Nurse and members of the wider multidisciplinary clinical team to provide high-quality, holistic care and support to people with learning disabilities in the acute care environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with people who have a learning disability to ensure they receive high-quality, holistic care and support in the acute care environment.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local and national health initiatives that focus on the health of people who have a learning disability.
  • Work with the multidisciplinary clinical team to provide care and support to people with learning disabilities.
  • Contribute to the development of projects that reduce health inequalities for people with learning disabilities.
Person Specification

We are looking for a registered nurse who has:

  • Current registration with the NMC.
  • Evidence of formal post-registration learning.
  • Clinical experience at Band 5 or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of clinical risk assessment.
  • Understanding of professional and current issues in learning disabilities nursing in acute areas.
  • Understanding of the health needs of people with learning disability and the health inequalities of people with a learning disability.
  • Factual knowledge of the wider NHS and local agendas including the learning disability work plan.
  • Factual knowledge of resource management, health and safety, clinical risk, and quality issues.
  • Working knowledge of equality and diversity.
