Job Title: Learning Support Assistant for Students with Autism

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £85 per day

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work with students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in a primary school setting. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students with autism and be able to adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and group support to students with ASC, helping them engage in classroom activities and reach their full potential
  • Adapt teaching methods and learning materials to meet individual needs, ensuring students feel included and supported
  • Implement strategies to support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation in line with the students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Work closely with teachers, the SENCo, and other staff to create a structured and nurturing environment that promotes learning and development
  • Foster independence and self-confidence in students by encouraging small, achievable steps towards personal and academic goals
  • Respond flexibly and sensitively to the individual challenges that students with autism may present

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or young people with autism
  • A patient, calm, and understanding approach to supporting students with special educational needs
  • The ability to adapt to each student's unique learning style and requirements
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with a range of staff and parents
  • A passion for making a meaningful impact on the lives of students with autism

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working in a school setting or with students in an educational context
  • Relevant qualifications in SEN, autism support, or child development
