Join the BBC Group and Public Services as a Principal Analytics Developer - Data Modelling Specialist in one of our exciting roles. This full-time, permanent position comes with an estimated salary range of £60,000-£71,000 depending on your relevant skills and experience.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Analytics Developer to support our newly created Product Data Domain teams. As part of our multi-disciplinary data teams, you will lead on creating clean, tested, well-modelled trusted datasets around our digital estate for use across the BBC.

You will work between data engineering and data analysis, getting exposure to both areas across all product teams, and focus on modelling unstructured data into meaningful insights.

Main Responsibilities
  • Design, implement and maintain dimensional data models that promote a self-service approach to data consumption.
  • Define best practices in dimensional data modelling and database design, ensuring standards are adhered to across the team.
  • Mentor and coach other team members in developing data modelling skills through knowledge transfer.
  • Automate data pipelines using proprietary BBC technology & Airflow.
  • Use your expert knowledge of BBC products and their features to inform the design and development of data products.
  • Develop ways of working between product data domains and other data teams within the product group.
  • Create processes for data product development, ensuring these processes are documented and advocating their use throughout the organisation.
  • Support analytics, data science and other colleagues outside the digital product area in managing projects and fielding queries.
Your Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Data Analyst, Data Modelling, Data Engineering or Analytics Engineering role, preferably in digital products.
  • Proven experience in dimensionally modelling complex data.
  • Excellent SQL skills for extracting and manipulating data.
  • Good knowledge of analytical database systems (Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery).
  • Comfortable working alongside cross-functional teams.
  • Some experience coding in R or Python.
