Job Title: Health & Safety OfficerJob Summary:

Logical Personnel Solutions is seeking a Health & Safety Officer to join a leading maintenance contractor in the power and utilities sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing health and safety policies and procedures across multiple sites in the UK.

The Role:

This is a key role that requires the individual to assist the EHS Manager in maintaining a safe working environment. The Health & Safety Officer will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures
  • Conducting regular site visits to monitor compliance and identify potential risks
  • Providing training and guidance to employees on health and safety matters
  • Investigating incidents and near misses, and developing corrective action plans
  • Supporting the EHS Manager in maintaining a positive health and safety culture within the organization
Responsibilities:

The Health & Safety Officer will be responsible for:

  • Adopting and amending current policies and procedures to ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation
  • Assisting in the development and upkeep of policies and procedures to meet other regulatory requirements
  • Monitoring compliance with current policies and procedures, and providing reports of non-compliance and corrective actions
  • Undertaking regular site visits to undertake audits and inspections of facilities
  • Identifying and developing materials for training employees on health and safety matters
  • Supporting site staff in the development and creation of risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Undertaking investigations into incidents and near misses, and reviewing and analyzing accident performance and trends
  • Aiding in the onboarding process of new employees, based on training requirements
  • Providing guidance and support to the business in all health and safety-related matters
  • Liaising with competent authorities as required
  • Providing and maintaining internal or external reporting requirements
  • Developing and updating action plans to put in place identified additional controls
  • Deputizing for the EHS Manager in times of absence or business requirements
  • Providing assistance and support to the business regarding health matters
  • Providing expert input for health risk assessments and method statements
  • Fostering a network across sites and the larger business to facilitate effective communication of health-related HSE matters
  • Conducting risk management through thorough risk assessments and the identification and implementation of control measures
Requirements:

The successful candidate will have:

  • A NEBOSH Diploma
  • 5 years' experience working in the power or utilities sector
  • A full clean UK driving licence
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
