Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team at Gordon Murray Group. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading structural analysis activities and providing technical expertise to support the design and development of our luxury vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Structural Analysis and Design: Conduct structural analysis and design activities to ensure the integrity and safety of our vehicles. This includes assessing the strength, stiffness, fatigue, and crash performance of parts, assemblies, and full vehicles.
  • CAE Task Management: Manage Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tasks, including maintaining project documentation, providing regular updates to stakeholders, and preparing comprehensive reports on CAE status and outcomes.
  • Testing and Validation: Define testing activities to objectively measure structural performance at the part, system, and whole vehicle level. Ensure compliance with attributes and requirements, and report results to engineering teams and project stakeholders.
  • Calculation Tools Development: Lead the development of calculation tools for repetitive tasks, and inspire others to do the same. This includes generating ideas for standardization, developing processes for calculations and design assessment, and improving efficiency in structural analysis.
  • Correlation and Validation: Ensure that the tools, software, and calculation methods used in the design phase correlate with certified data. This ensures that the structural analysis accurately reflects the real-world behavior of the structure.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in Mechanical/Aerospace/Automotive Engineering (or similar)
  • Experience: Experience in Structural Analysis (Stress, Stiffness, Fatigue, Optimisation) in a high-performance automotive/motorsport/aerospace environment
  • Skills: Proficiency in simulation tools including Altair's Hyperworks suite (Hypermesh, Hyperview, Hypergraph, Optistruct, RADIOSS) or experience with similar software. Practical knowledge of nCode Design Life software. Experience with analysing test data and correlating to CAE results. Experience of FEA material characterisation for metallic and composite materials.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with a scripting/programming language, e.g. Python or software such as Matlab.
