Salary

The salary for this role is £37,500 - £42,000 per annum, inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This is a competitive package that reflects the importance of this position in ensuring the safeguarding and wellbeing of our students.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Safeguarding and Pastoral Manager to join our team at a specialist SEN school in Royston. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To develop and implement strategies to improve behaviour and safeguarding practices within the school, ensuring compliance with statutory guidelines, CQC, and Ofsted regulations.
  • To coordinate the effective implementation of attendance policies, promoting good attendance and reducing absences.
  • To provide relevant training and support to staff on behaviour and safeguarding, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to meet the needs of our students.
  • To ensure all necessary reports and audits are completed accurately and efficiently, working closely with the school business manager.
  • To communicate effectively with parents, carers, employees, other agencies, and local authorities on student progress and the effectiveness of intervention and support strategies.
  • To advise and assist Service Leads in the strategic development of behaviour, pastoral, wellbeing, and preparing for adulthood offers, including reviewing and formulating policies.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • DSL training level 3 or above and experience working as a DSL.
  • A Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or working with children and young people (desirable).
  • A proven track record of excellent creative and structured pastoral interventions within a relevant special needs environment.
  • Experience of holding responsibility for turning policy into effective practice.
  • Successful management of complex scenarios and conflict resolution, along with experience of using effective behaviour and teaching strategies.
  • An understanding of ASD intervention and support strategies (TEACCH, attention Autism, or similar).
  • Experience of OFSTED and CQC inspections and following action planning.
