About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our esteemed medical team at MENTUS RECRUITMENT LTD. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will play a pivotal role in providing person-centred care to our inpatients. Working collaboratively with our multi-disciplinary teams, you will typically manage a caseload of up to 16 patients, ensuring they receive comprehensive and effective mental health support.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. To manage adult inpatients with a variety of psychiatric diagnoses, some of whom will be detained under a section of the Mental Health Act (MHA).
  2. To conduct assessments, request investigations and contribute to formulation of acutely unwell psychiatric inpatients.
  3. To formulate treatment plans and oversee implementation and evaluation of these treatment plans.
  4. To contribute to management of patient flow with a view to manage bed capacity effectively and avoid or flag up potential delayed transfers of care.
  5. To comply with all legal obligations covering clinical practice e.g. Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, safeguarding procedures.
  6. To complete relevant paperwork, including maintaining records and participating in routine outcome monitoring of clinical work.
  7. To supervise and help develop medical staff and other professionals in all aspects of psychiatric care.
  8. To participate in MDT Meetings and other regular ward or team meetings including staff supervision.
  9. To provide clinical and professional leadership within the post and take part in management activities and governance processes related to the post or the wider hospital.
  10. As a senior clinician, to have an integral role in the performance of the team, further development of the service, and the development of the clinical pathways and priorities of the service.
  11. Participate in remote, 2nd on call consultant rota.
  12. Full time Junior Doctor support.

What We Offer:

A competitive salary of £135,000- £145,000, with the option to be paid as PAYE or via LTD company on a service level agreement. We also offer 25 days annual leave + Bank Holidays, paid sick leave, life assurance, health insurance, contributory pension scheme, Blue Light Card, and comprehensive induction and ongoing training commitment.

Necessary Experience or Qualifications:

  1. Full GMC registration.
  2. Psychiatry experience within multi-disciplinary teams.
  3. MRCPsych or equivalent.
  4. Section 12(2) approval and AC Approval Essential.
