About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and empathetic Support Officer to join our Private Sector Housing Team as a Community Outreach Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals and families in the West Suffolk area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work directly with residents in community settings and in their homes to understand the issues they face and provide tailored support and guidance.
  • Assist residents with applications for support and funding, and conduct benefit entitlement checks to ensure they receive the help they need.
  • Liaise closely with other teams and partner organizations to ensure expert support is provided at the right time.
  • Work closely with Community Teams to build community support and make a sustainable difference in the lives of residents.
  • Support the Safe Suffolk Renters Programme in targeting poor housing conditions and provide assistance with grant funding applications.
Requirements
  • A background in supporting individuals with housing and financial issues, with a focus on budgetary support and holistic support networks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with residents and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to meet the needs of the role.
  • Knowledge of local government services and policies, with a commitment to delivering high-quality support and services to residents.
