Overview

The Project Manager will be responsible for managing a portfolio of projects across various business units, ensuring they are controlled in line with the company's Quality Management System and project management procedures.

This role would suit a candidate with previous engineering experience and current project management experience who is looking to develop their skills within a fast-moving company with a world-wide customer base.

This role will be based in our Bristol offices, with occasional travel to clients' sites required. However, as part of our commitment to flexible working, employees can combine office work with remote working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of projects in accordance with company procedures
  • Participate in the Bid Phase, either supporting the Business Unit Manager or leading bids post initial customer contact
  • Prepare all Project Start-up and Initiation Documentation, including project briefs, project management plans, project schedules, and tracking registers
  • Manage risk in accordance with company procedures
  • Track, monitor progress, and manage all allocated projects in terms of time, cost, and quality
  • Prepare project financial data, including budget updates, estimates at completion, and control of customer invoicing and profiling
  • Manage project resource demand and participate in Business Unit resource levelling through accurate representation of project demand in the business forecasting system
  • Communicate with stakeholders, both internal and external to customers and suppliers
  • Manage and control contract changes with customers for all allocated projects, ensuring adherence to process

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree or similar qualification in an engineering, science, technology, mathematics, or related discipline
  • Recognised Project Management training and qualification (desirable)
  • Ability to lead teams in challenging technical environments
  • Able to work with a wide experience level from junior engineers to well-regarded technical consultants
  • Financially astute, able to create and manage project budgets, maintain profit margin, and deliver returns
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confident in prioritisation and managing concurrent workstreams
  • Ability to manage own workload and work to deadlines
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal
  • Proactive and assertive nature with motivation to succeed
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Experience and Benefits

  • Experience within aerospace, marine, or defence engineering environment (desirable)
  • Experience of project management in an engineering organisation (desirable)
  • Experience of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as MS NAV/Dynamics (desirable)
  • Competitive Package: Grade 4-5 with a salary banding of £33,000-£49,000 dependent on experience
