Job Title: Research Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Officer to join our team at the University of Essex. The successful candidate will have a key role in the construction of The Free Clinics Archive and contribute to the conception and preparation of exhibitions and other archive-material centred events and activities.

About the Role

The Research Officer will be primarily based in the Department of Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies and will work closely with the PI, postdoctoral fellows, a PhD researcher, and the communication and events officer to deliver the research objectives of the FREEPSY project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the construction of The Free Clinics Archive
  • Assist in the conception and preparation of exhibitions and other archive-material centred events and activities
  • Network and out-face for the project
  • Collaborate with the research team to deliver the research objectives
Requirements

The successful candidate will possess an MA in archival studies or the management of the cultural sector and excellent research skills. Experience with working with psychoanalytic archives and knowledge of all aspects of constructing and maintaining an archive are essential. Language skills in German are an advantage.
