Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team at Long Term Teachers Ltd. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting teachers in the classroom, working with children 1:1 or delivering sessions with small groups of students, managing classroom resources, and taking children on trips and visits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting teachers in the classroom to deliver high-quality education to students with special educational needs
  • Working with children 1:1 or delivering sessions with small groups of students to support their learning and development
  • Managing classroom resources to ensure a safe and organized learning environment
  • Taking children on trips and visits to enhance their learning experiences
  • Having lunch with children who struggle socially to build relationships and promote social skills
  • Managing heightened behaviors and keeping children safe in the classroom
  • Playing board games and engaging in activities to promote social skills and relationships
  • Making amazing displays to showcase student work and achievements
  • Celebrating success and promoting a positive learning environment
  • Participating in therapy sessions or reflecting on difficult periods to support student well-being
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with SEMH, ASD, and ADHD
  • Relevant qualifications and training in teaching or supporting children with special educational needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with children, teachers, and parents
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviors and keep children safe in the classroom
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Working Hours:

Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4pm, term time only

Commencement Date:

September 2024

Contract Type:

Temporary position with the aim to progress to a permanent position
