About the Role

We are seeking a part-time Mortuary Assistant to join our team at Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Greenock. As a Mortuary Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the mortuary team in the receipt, removal, and transfer of deceased individuals, as well as preparing the deceased for viewing and conducting viewings with relatives.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Dealing with the receipt, removal, and transfer of deceased individuals
  • Preparing the deceased for viewing
  • Organising and conducting viewings with relatives
  • Completing all paperwork for release of deceased to Funeral Directors

Requirements:

  • Qualified to higher grade level (3 Highers at Grade C) or above, or be qualified to HNC/SVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Demonstrable knowledge of confidentiality and Data Protection policies

Working Arrangements:

This is a part-time role working 18.5 hours per week, with a flexible schedule to be discussed at interview. You will be required to work across various sites in NHSGG&C, with the base site being the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
