Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chef Manager to join our team at One Retail. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our kitchen, ensuring that all meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and prepared to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Menu Planning: Design and implement varied, seasonal menus that cater to the nutritional needs and preferences of our residents, including those with specific dietary requirements (e.g., low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, vegetarian).
  • Food Preparation: Ensure that all meals are prepared to the highest standards, using fresh, high-quality ingredients, and presented in an appealing manner.
  • Team Management: Lead, train, and motivate the kitchen team, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Budget Management: Manage the kitchen budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to food hygiene, allergen management, and health and safety regulations. Conduct regular audits and ensure that all kitchen practices are up to date with the latest standards.
  • Resident Engagement: Work closely with residents to understand their dietary preferences and feedback, adapting menus where necessary to ensure satisfaction and variety.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Chef Manager, preferably within a care home, retirement living, or similar setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a team.
  • Excellent knowledge of nutrition and special dietary requirements for older people.
  • Exceptional culinary skills with a creative approach to menu planning and food presentation.
  • Strong organisational and budget management skills.
  • A relevant culinary qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery) and a current Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for older people.
