Workshop Engineer Job Description

First Military Recruitment Ltd is seeking a skilled Workshop Engineer to join our team. As a Workshop Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out routine pre-delivery inspections of new machines, fitting extras to machines, modifying machines according to guidelines, and performing repairs and servicing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out routine pre-delivery inspections of new machines to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Fitting factory-approved and locally supplied extras to machines where required.
  • Modify machines according to guidelines and specifications to meet customer needs.
  • Perform all forms of repair and servicing to machines, including diagnosis and troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to the repair, overhaul, and diagnosis of plant equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Develop effective working relationships with the Workshop Team and support others where required.
  • Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for self and others through a clear understanding of workplace safety requirements and systems.
  • Support the roles of others by ensuring administration and paperwork is completed effectively and on time.
  • Ensure customer expectations are met by maintaining clear communication with the Workshop Supervisor.
  • Contribute to the success of the apprenticeship programme by supporting and mentoring engineering apprentices.
  • Work with the customer in mind, ensuring quality work standards are maintained consistently.
  • Work in accordance with the company quality assurance guidelines to ensure excellence in all aspects of the job.
  • Contribute to recognising and improving work processes to drive greater efficiency.
  • Use initiative to ensure good housekeeping standards are followed and maintained in the workshop area.
  • Ensure self-image is a key contributor to promoting company business.
  • Proactively seek new opportunities to develop personal skills and apply them in the workshop.
Requirements:
  • Satisfactory completion of a recognised apprenticeship in a related industry to NVQ level 3.
  • GCSE passes grades A-C in Mathematics and English.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Able to demonstrate previous experience in a similar role and/or industry.
  • Smart and well-presented.
  • Good communicator at all levels.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Computer literate and able to demonstrate uses of IT relevant to the role.
  • Be able to travel UK & Ireland as required to support business requirements.
  • Keep up to date on technical skills and knowledge.
