About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team at Setsquare Recruitment. If you have a passion for civil engineering and highways, and are looking for a challenging opportunity, this could be the role for you


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Preparation of Bills of Quantities by taking off measures from drawings and ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  2. Working on highway projects, delivering QS services with a focus on quality and efficiency.
  3. Contract administration and management, with a strong understanding of NEC 3 and NEC 4 contracts.
  4. Cost planning, measurement, and managing costs throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring profitability and business success.
  5. Liaising effectively with clients, contractors, and suppliers, building strong relationships and communicating effectively.
  6. Monitoring and managing project budgets, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual obligations.
  7. Producing reports and valuations for projects, providing valuable insights and recommendations.

Essential Requirements:
  1. A strong educational background in Civil Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
  2. Proven experience in producing Bills of Quantities and taking off measures from drawings, with a strong understanding of highway project measurement.
  3. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a client-facing role and build strong relationships.
  4. Strong commercial awareness, with a focus on business success and profitability.
  5. Good time management skills and the ability to manage workload effectively under pressure.
  6. A valid UK driving licence.

Desirable:
  1. Knowledge and experience with NEC 3 and NEC 4 contracts, with a strong understanding of contract administration and management.
