Job Description

Role Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Assistant to join our team at Northern Powergrid. As a key member of our Finance department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service, processing financial transactions, and supporting the company's financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers, responding to queries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Process daily cash receipting, credit/debit card payments, and customer refund requests, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Complete banking schedules, reconcile accounts, and process journal transfers for payments made into incorrect bank accounts.
  • Upload and reconcile debit/credit card payments, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Monitor email correspondence and respond to customer queries, providing clear and concise information.

Requirements:

  • Good level of IT skills, with experience in financial systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Math at grade C or 4 or above.
  • NVQ Financial/Business qualifications, with an understanding of financial receipting and reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of Oracle-based finance systems.
  • At least 2 years' experience working in a financial/cashiering role.
