Job Description

Job Title: Finance Assistant

Company: Northern Powergrid

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Assistant to join our team at Northern Powergrid. As a Finance Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional customer service, processing daily cash receipting, and managing financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
  • Process daily cash receipting, including cheque details and reconciliations
  • Complete journal transfers for payments made into incorrect bank accounts
  • Upload and reconcile debit/credit card payments received on a daily basis
  • Take customer credit/debit card payments over the telephone
  • Monitor email correspondence and respond to incoming queries

Requirements:

  • Good level of IT skills, including Financial Systems and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent customer service skills, with both telephone and email
  • Strong planning and organization skills, with ability to work under pressure
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Math at grade C or 4 or above
  • NVQ Financial/Business qualifications, with understanding of financial receipting and reconciliation
  • Knowledge of Oracle-based finance systems
  • At least 2 years' experience working in a financial/cashiering role
