Health, Safety and Environmental Manager (Main Contractor / Social Housing New Build)

Job Type: Permanent

Location: Norfolk

A leading regional main contractor is seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation and best practices across the region.

The ideal candidate will have extensive practical experience in the construction industry, possibly having originally trained as a tradesperson familiar with new house building and refurbishment. They will hold relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH General Certificate and NEBOSH Construction Certificate, as well as a valid driving license.

The Health, Safety and Environmental Manager will be responsible for:

  1. Advising on regional operational compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation and best practices
  2. Ensuring current procedures within the region comply with relevant policy and legislation
  3. Assisting with the production and review of project-specific documentation
  4. Carrying out and analyzing inspections and audits at operational sites
  5. Evaluating essential risk assessments and method statements in association with operations staff
  6. Liaising with enforcing authorities as required

The successful candidate will be a pro-active member of the national Health and Safety team and will support and develop the national OHSAS 18001 safety management system.

Criteria:

  1. Extensive practical experience in the construction industry
  2. Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH General Certificate and NEBOSH Construction Certificate
  3. Valid driving license
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills, an inquisitive mind, and an enthusiastic and energetic nature
  5. Happy to commute to/work across Norfolk
