A leading regional main contractor is seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation and best practices across the region.
The ideal candidate will have extensive practical experience in the construction industry, possibly having originally trained as a tradesperson familiar with new house building and refurbishment. They will hold relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH General Certificate and NEBOSH Construction Certificate, as well as a form of technical recognition such as TECH IOSH. Environmental qualification, such as IEMA Environmental Management, would be an advantage.
The role will involve actively engaging with all levels of management at all stages of the construction process, promoting a culture where safety, health, and environmental considerations are integrated into everyday processes. The successful candidate will also be responsible for carrying out and analyzing inspections and audits at operational sites, assessing the competence of contractors, and evaluating essential risk assessments and method statements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure regional operational compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation and best practices
- Advise on regional operational compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation and best practices
- Carry out and analyze inspections and audits at operational sites
- Assess the competence of contractors
- Evaluate essential risk assessments and method statements
Requirements:
- Extensive practical experience in the construction industry
- Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH General Certificate and NEBOSH Construction Certificate
- Form of technical recognition such as TECH IOSH
- Environmental qualification, such as IEMA Environmental Management
- Valid driving license
- Excellent interpersonal skills
