Capital Equipment Procurement Specialist

This is a key position within our procurement team, with high visibility and close collaboration with senior management. The Capital Equipment Procurement Specialist is responsible for capital equipment, building, infrastructure, and services, from manufacturers across the globe at the best conditions possible. He/she is permanently in contact with suppliers and other sources of market intelligence to offer competitive propositions to our customers.

The specialist reports to the Senior Category Manager CAPEX and MRO and will ideally be based in a location that allows for close collaboration with the procurement team. His/her key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the development and execution of strategically defined CAPEX sub-categories across the company.
  • Linking local requirements and strategies from our factories, central engineering to our procurement strategy.
  • Negotiating major CAPEX contracts and leading smaller local contract negotiations.
  • Reporting on CAPEX market trends through market insights gathered by supplier and trade show visits.
  • Developing and achieving a pipeline of initiatives, projects, and activities with a focus on sustainable cost base reduction.
  • Solving operational issues, such as efficiency workstreams, supply interruptions, and contractual disputes.
  • Getting involved in ad hoc projects as determined by his/her manager.
  • Supporting the team and the company in the development and application of wider policies and objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in engineering or business management, procurement experience in capital equipment, and the ability to speak the engineers' and operations' language. Fluency in English and German is required, and skills in further languages are welcome. The candidate should be assertive, convincing, and have a commercial and competitive mindset, as well as solid intercultural orientation, the ability to develop strong working relationships, and a results-oriented mindset.
