Job Title: Classroom Assistant - Special Educational Needs

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Classroom Assistant to join our team at the Education Authority. As a Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of children with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the teacher in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for children with special educational needs.
  • Assist with lesson planning and preparation to ensure that children receive the best possible education.
  • Work closely with the teacher and other support staff to develop and implement individualized learning plans for children with special educational needs.
  • Provide one-to-one support to children with special educational needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and supportive classroom environment, promoting social, emotional, and behavioral well-being.
Requirements:
  • Hold a minimum of a Level 2 childcare qualification as approved by the Education Authority.
  • Have a minimum of two years' experience of working with children with special educational needs in a formal learning environment.
  • Have a working knowledge of information technology systems, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Be able to work flexibly and creatively to help ensure a child-centered learning experience.
  • Have highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Have a minimum of two years' experience of working with children with special educational needs and hold a recognized qualification in Maths and English.
