Job Title: Classroom Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Classroom Assistant to join our team at the Education Authority. As a Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of children with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the teacher in planning, preparing, and delivering lessons to children with special educational needs.
  • Assist with the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans.
  • Provide one-to-one support to children with special educational needs, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to develop and implement strategies to support children with special educational needs.
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements:
  • Hold a minimum of a Level 2 childcare qualification as approved by the Education Authority.
  • Have a minimum of two years' experience of working with children with special educational needs in a formal learning environment.
  • Evidence of a working knowledge of information technology systems, including Microsoft Word and Outlook, and/or C2K schools IT systems.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of child development issues, health and safety requirements, and experience of working with children with social, behavioral, emotional, and well-being needs.
  • Ability to work flexibly and creatively to help ensure a child-centered learning experience.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven team working and collaborative skills.
  • Effective planning and organizing skills to ensure work is completed on time to the required standard.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Have a minimum of two years' experience of working with children with special educational needs and hold a recognized (GCSE or higher) qualification in Maths and English.

Please note that you will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure of Criminal Background check as part of the recruitment process. You will be responsible for meeting the cost of the Enhanced Disclosure Certificate.
