Job Title: Classroom Assistant - Special Educational Needs

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Classroom Assistant to join our team at the Education Authority. As a Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of children with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in the classroom to ensure a child-centered learning experience.
  • Support children with special educational needs, providing individualized attention and care.
  • Develop and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure effective planning and organization.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure a smooth and efficient learning process.
Requirements:
  • Hold a minimum of a Level 2 childcare qualification as approved by the Education Authority.
  • Have a minimum of three years' experience of working with children in a formal learning environment.
  • Evidence of a working knowledge of information technology systems, including Microsoft Word and Outlook, and/or C2K schools IT systems.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the requirements of a Classroom Assistant (special educational needs), child development issues, and health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work flexibly and creatively to support children's learning and development.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Have a minimum of two years' experience of working with children with special educational needs.
  • Evidence of a suitable Level 3 qualification.
