Automotive Functional Safety Expert

About the Role:
The Principal Automotive Functional Safety Engineer at Semtech is responsible for ensuring stringent safety requirements are met across product development and research. With a strong support team, you will drive implementation of safety requirements, make changes to product design where necessary, complete verification and physical implementation, and use software tools to deliver high-quality products within the autonomous driving portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Analyse systems and components to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Conduct Safety and Failure analysis (FMEA/FTA/DFA/HARA), documenting outcomes and recommending requirements based on results.
- Guide and develop system modelling for Safety executions.
- Work with Product Definition and R&D teams to deliver designs with ISO 26262 compliance.
- Develop HW & SW Safety Mechanisms concepts, specifications, including control diagrams and implementation of safe state machine.
- Guide Reliability studies for HW (Fault metrics calculations) and FMEDA.
- Support customer reviews with functional safety input.
Requirements:
- Minimum MSc degree in electrical/electronics, automotive or relevant field.
- 12+ years of professional experience in automotive systems and components.
- Profound knowledge of hardware safety standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508.
- Solid knowledge of Semiconductor manufacturing and product development for Automotive applications.
- Expert Functional Safety Practitioner certification.
Salary: £80,000 - £110,000 per annum.
Location: Bristol, UK.
